Room 7 have been learning the legend of Wairaka and how she saved her tribe! We were suppose to retell the story, here is some of my writing about Wairaka. Have you heard about the legend of Wairaka?
Problem:
The waka was rocking back and forth, it was raining hard. The children were crying and the women were panicking! There were no men paddling the waka and the women weren’t allowed to use the paddle because it was tapu (sacred) back then. Since she was Chief Toroa’s daughter, Wairaka had to figure out how to save her tribe. Suddenly, Wairaka stood up and made a courageous decision..
